Three Springs Short Stay Caravan Park
The town of Three Springs provides a fantastic multi-night free camp with plenty of decent-sized shaded or sunny campsites. You need to contact the shire for a key lock code and deposit $10 to get the keys to the toilets and showers. Clean amenities, a public pool next door operating in the summer months, a skate park, and many young gum trees. Just a short walk to town where you’ll find an IGA, fuel station and great pub!

Koojan Salmon Gum Reserve
Koojan is a great bush camp near the road, with many flat camping sites and an abundance of birdlife. No traffic noise after sunset, a short picturesque walking track and good shades among the gum trees. There’s minimal light pollution at night, making it the perfect stargazing spot!

Wilbinga Campground
Wilbinga campground is set on a great stretch of pristine beach, and it’s suitable for self-sufficient campers. Get your tire pressure down and your adrenaline up driving through the sand dunes, or try fishing. The 4WD is not ideal for novice drivers. Witness some amazing sunsets at this unspoiled portion of the coastline, but beware of the foxes!

Tuarts Reserve Rest Area
Tuarts Rest Area is a popular stopover just 10 minutes from Cervantes and the Pinnacles, available to self-contained campers only. You’re required to carry a minimum of 20 litres of fresh water, have a grey water tank and portable toilet cassette. There are over ten campsites all decently sized and flat. Peaceful, quiet besides the road proximity. The only downside is the number of bees in summer.

Wandoo Reserve Rest Area
Located right out of Jurien Bay, this bush camp accommodates self-sufficient campers only. Sheltered and shady thanks to the tall timber as well as close to the Indian Ocean Drive Road. Nice walking track in the back of the camp, clean grounds and a peaceful ambience; a good choice for a short stay.

Lake Indoon
Lake Indoon is a well-equipped campground that has a year-round 4WD and fire ban. It serves as an aquatic playground since the 1950s and covers over 130 hectares. You can pick a sunny or shaded campsite with a sandy or gravel base. The facilities are cleaned frequently. You get to take in the views, the sounds of ducks quacking and walk around the lake for three days. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Nerren Nerren is located right off the North West Coastal Highway and is accessible from both directions. There’s a sealed and red dirt area that can accommodate over 12 vans, under the shades or out in the sun. Even though it’s right off the highway, there’s minimal road noise. The area is clean and popular among travellers.

Overlanders Roadhouse
The Overlanders is a family-operated roadhouse settled at the turnoff to Shark Bay and Monkey Mia. It offers free camping, excellent meals, a service station, 24h truck stop, caravan park and a camping area. For $5, you can get a hot shower and for $25 a powered site. It’s a remote area, so the roadhouse generates its own electricity and water!

Make your 4WD work and hit up this remote campground. It’s the ultimate secluded bush camp in the area, settled by the creek and providing striking views. No facilities, but lots of birdlife, some kangaroos and rabbits. Wonderful stargazing spot with a clear view of the Milkyway.

GACA Crew Camp
This is a beachfront campground on the sand with around three campsites available and easy beach access. The track down to the campground is over the sand dunes, so you need a 4WD and experienced driver. There are no amenities on site, only waves crashing on the shore and some driftwood for the fireplace. Very close to Lake Macleod and Carnarvon.
