Bribie is the most accessible island, while Moreton and Stradbroke are two of the world’s largest sand islands. Whether you’re looking for quiet coastal walks, beachfront camping, or snorkeling around shipwrecks, these islands have it all.

North Currigee Campground – South Stradbroke

Exceptional beachfront campground ideal for families. Pristine beach, good amenities, friendly and attentive staff. Great fishing spots, surfing available right across the island. Enjoy the nights by the free pit right on the beach, and dive into the sea just a couple of footsteps from your bed!

Main Beach Stradbroke Island

A serene destination with soft sand, lots of space, and fantastic nature views, located on the 38km long beach. Real dolphin and whale lookout at your doorstep. This is the place for an adventure-filled stay and getting in touch with nature. One vehicle and two dogs allowed per campsite, no amenities on-site, but you can access Adder Rock facilities by purchasing an amenities pass.

Flinders Beach

Flinders Beach is a picturesque campground close to shops and services but isolated at the same time. It consists of twelve zones with 200 campsites available. You’ll find a mix of sandy and grassy sites, wildlife all around and happy dolphins throwing a show in the sea. Small freshwater creeks, wonderful lagoon, and pristine beach, a real magnet for campers. To avoid the crowds, plan on staying during the week.

Moreton Island South Eastern Zone

Bush camp located on the eastern side of Moreton Island with 35 different sized campsites ranging from secluded to exposed. Being settled in a national park, the camp has no facilities, just raw nature and serenity – perfect if you want to hide from the world for a couple of days. The track to the camp is narrow and sandy, so if you’re towing a trailer, skip Middle Road and access it from Blue Lagoon Road.

The Wrecks

The Wrecks offers 21 sheltered camping spots, and it’s accessible only by boat and 4WD. Sadly, campers and camp trailers can’t reach this lovely camp. It’s set within walking distance from the MICAT ferry drop-off, and you can camp in tents, so you don’t have to come with your vehicle. The beach here is magnificent, with soft white sand and crystal clear water.

Ben Ewa Camp is located in the valley, sheltered from the strong island winds, with 12 campsites available and shallow waters.It’s often the choice of young families with children. Situated conveniently right on the beach alongside Middle Road, this camp can be an excellent base for exploring the island!

Situated between Ben Ewa and Comboyuro Point, this campground offers sheltered bay waters and a good choice of 74 camping spots. Most sites are secluded, shaded, and with a beach view, and some are within walking distance of Bulwer township.

Comboyuro Point Camping Area

A large campground with 49 campsites of different sizes, shaded and sheltered. Even during the holidays it doesn’t feel crowded. Stop here to enjoy the shallow bay waters and beautiful calm atmosphere. It’s a walking distance to town where you can admire some historic sites.

Located on the island’s eastern side, the Blue Lagoon camping area offers 25 spaced-out beach-style camping sites. Most of the spots are shaded, close to the amenities, and with direct access to the beach. This camp is close to a surfing beach and the Blue Lagoon.

Moving to Birbie Island, Gallagher Point is a small, low-key camping area on the island’s west side. There are six campsites with a view of the Glass House Mountains and the Pumicestone Passage. This is a bush camp. There are no facilities, so be self-sufficient and bring your own firewood.

Settled at Pumicestone Passage’s shores, this campground is accessible by boat or by a 7km sandy track – for high clearance 4WD only. Wide-open space, 14 camp spots, clean amenities, and lots of wildlife everywhere you look! Just a short stroll to the beach where you can fish right off the shore.

An isolated campground accessible only by boat during low tide; high tides can cause flooding, and then the camp is closed. It’s a bush camp only for tents, with six sites available, while the closest boat ramp is at Donnybrook. Magical sunsets, complete serenity, and superb fishing- enough to keep you fed throughout your stay.
